The Mesdag Panorama is an amazing painting which depicts a 360 degree
view of the surroundings of Scheveningen, a fishing port Northwest of The Hague.Lighthouse at Scheveningen

This immense painting - 120 meters (390 feet) long and 14 meters (45feet) high, covering an area of some 17,000 square feet - was painted by the famous Dutch marine painter Hendrik Willem Mesdag, with the help of S. Mesdag-van Houten, Theophile de Bock, G.H. Breitner, B.J. Blommers and A. Nijberck.

In the 19th century, panoramas were exhibited throughout Europe and America.
The Mesdag Panorama is one of the last panorama paintings still in existence, and it offers a unique perspective on the landscape surrounding the little town of Scheveningen in 1881.
